In the race to combat climate change and transition to clean energy, the COOPERANT project emerges as a beacon of innovation in the field of Concentrated Solar Power (CSP). This groundbreaking initiative aims to revolutionize renewable energy technology, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in solar power generation and storage.

At the heart of COOPERANT lies an ambitious goal: to design and demonstrate a first-of-its-kind Concentrated Solar Power Thermal Energy Storage (CSPTES) system. This cutting-edge technology marries a high-performance CSP volumetric receiver with hybrid Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems, utilizing air as the heat transfer fluid (HTF) at unprecedented temperatures of up to 1000°C.

What sets COOPERANT apart is its compatibility with next-generation CSP plants, capable of operating with highly efficient power cycles such as air breathing Brayton, supercritical CO2, and steam Rankine. Moreover, the system’s innovative design opens doors to potential photovoltaic (PV) hybridization, further enhancing its versatility and efficiency.
